Marissa and Michael’s wedding at the Scotsman Hotel in Edinburgh was nothing short of a riot—and so perfectly them. These two came up from England for their big day, but with Marissa’s Scottish roots, it was only fitting to tie the knot here. From a relaxed morning of prosecco and laughs to pants-off antics (yes, really!), this wedding was the perfect mix of tradition and chaos.
The Morning Prep
The girls kicked off the day with a chilled morning of bridal prep at the Scotsman Hotel, with stunning views over Edinburgh on a crisp, sunny day. Prosecco flowed, snacks were devoured, and the atmosphere was full of excitement but super relaxed. Downstairs, Michael greeted guests in true groom style—no faff, no fuss, just making sure everyone was ready to roll.
There was a slight hiccup when the coach didn’t show up for some guests, but Marissa was an absolute queen and handled it like a pro. No stress, just solutions—honestly, someone give this woman a medal.

The Ceremony
The ceremony included a sweet ring-warming ritual, which is quickly becoming a favourite tradition for couples. It was followed by the classic Scottish “tying the knot” tradition and a confetti-filled walk up the aisle. Speaking of confetti, the real showstopper came later on the Scotsman steps when we unleashed the colourful confetti cannons. Let’s just say the loud bang caught everyone by surprise—cue shocked (and hilarious) reactions from the guests.

Edinburgh Adventures
After the ceremony, we hopped in a taxi and made our way to some iconic Edinburgh spots for photos. First stop: The Vennel, with its famous view of Edinburgh Castle. Now, I’ll admit, this spot can boil my pish thanks to all the pesky tourists, but we managed to snag some gorgeous shots.
Then things got interesting. Michael, being the absolute legend he is, whipped out his Bawbag pants (Google it if you dare) and gave us all a laugh by swinging them around his head. Only at a Scottish wedding, eh?
We even managed a Beatles-inspired shot that Marissa and Michael had no clue about until it all came together—classic “trust me, I’ve got this” Rachel vibes. We wandered around Grassmarket, popped into a pub for a quick pint, and made a stop at my favourite shop, The Mutt’s Nuts, before heading back to the hotel.

The Reception
While I was out gallivanting with the couple, Fran from Fawn & Bell Photography stayed back to capture some candid moments of the magician entertaining guests. Once we returned, it was time for speeches, a lot of laughs, and some truly heartfelt moments to wrap up the day.

Why Edinburgh Weddings Are the Best
Marissa and Michael’s Scotsman Hotel wedding perfectly sums up why I love shooting weddings in Edinburgh. It’s a city with personality, charm, and endless photo opportunities. Whether it’s the iconic landmarks, cheeky tourist dodging, or unexpected antics like flying pants, there’s always something memorable.
