Summer Wedding at The Cow Shed Crail with Plenty of Pink!

Rebecca & William’s outdoor wedding at The Cow Shed Crail was a midsummer’s dream full of laughs – complete with a foliage wall and neon sign!

The music is on, the sun is shining and the drive up to The Cow Shed Crail is beautiful as it’s a sunny day for William and Rebecca’s wedding. There is one slight difference though for this wedding, I’m not in the car! So what happens if your photographer can’t make the wedding? I have never missed a wedding in over 15 years of being a photographer but it’s definitely something that should be planned for if the situation arises. In this case it was, unfortunately, due to the death of a very close family member of mine.

William and Rebecca had the best wedding warm up session shooting around Loch Glow and had the pleasure of watching me fall down a hill and get stuck on a fence.  Helen, my amazing second shooter from Black Squid Photography was with me and as usual her addition to the shoot was so worth it, she knows exactly what she’s doing that girl!  We had bags of fun and laughed the whole time, they loved the photos, I knew the wedding day would be amazing.

So when I realised I wasn’t going to be able to make the wedding day I had one hundred percent faith in Helen to step in for me, she was gona rock it as first photographer and I just had to find her an assistant who came in the shape of my good friend Rachel (yep another one) from Shoot Sweet Photography. Rebecca and William were amazingly understanding about it all and, as they had met Helen at the warm up, they were super confident their day was in good hands with a seasoned pro at the helm.

The Cow Shed Crail is an incredible venue and has a really atmospheric indoor area for eating and dancing and the outdoor garden is perfect for drinks and canapes with a paved area in case it’s a little damp and a large lawn that can be used for setting up of games and entertainment for the guests. The twinkly lights in the evening as you walk out are fairytale pretty and I think Helen and Rachel knocked this one out the park. After editing the images myself and delivering them to William and Rebecca, they were blown away and I was so grateful that through the years I have made so many friends in the industry and have a solid backup system to fall back on should I need help in a tough spot.

Hiring a pro means that in a situation like this you can be sure your wedding photography is still going to be awesome and everything you hoped for, it’s another reason I work with dedicated second shooters who I can train up in my style.
