Wedding Mishaps – And Why They Don’t Matter!

Let’s be honest—no matter how much planning goes into a wedding, something will go wrong. A button pops off, the weather doesn’t cooperate, or your glasses snap in half mid-ceremony (been there, done that). Wedding Mishaps are a given!

But here’s the thing: mishaps don’t define your wedding day. What does? The love, the joy, and the moments you’ll be laughing about for years to come.

The Time I Fell Into a Lake (and Other Mishaps)

As a photographer, I’ve seen my fair share of wedding-day chaos—and not all of it involves the couple. I once broke my glasses during a ceremony and had to tape them together MacGyver-style to finish the day. Another time, I fell off a bus trying to get the perfect shot (spoiler alert: I nailed the shot). And yes, I’ve even taken an unexpected dip in a lake—camera safely intact, don’t worry.

But here’s the deal: I never let these moments stop me. You’ve trusted me with one of the biggest days of your life, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure your memories are captured beautifully—even if it means laughing off a few bruises or sporting a very fashionable pair of taped-up specs.

Mishaps Happen to Everyone

Couples aren’t immune to mishaps either. Sometimes wedding cakes collapse, dresses snag, speeches go wildly off-script, and on occasion, the ring is temporarily “misplaced”.

In the moment, these things might feel like the end of the world. But trust me—they’re not. Years down the line, you won’t remember that your bouquet wilted a bit or that someone accidentally spilled red wine on a tablecloth. You’ll remember the look on your partner’s face as you walked down the aisle, the way your guests cheered during the speeches, and the ridiculous dance moves at the reception.

Why Mishaps Don’t Matter

Weddings are about love, not perfection. Sure, you want the day to run smoothly, but life isn’t a movie set. The beauty of weddings lies in their unpredictability—the little moments that remind us we’re human.

When something doesn’t go to plan, lean into it. Laugh, roll with the punches, and trust that it’s not going to ruin your day unless you let it.

How I Handle Mishaps as a Photographer

As your photographer, I’ve got your back. If a button pops off your dress, I’ll grab the safety pins. If your timeline’s running behind, I’ll keep things calm and organised. And if I fall into a lake again (fingers crossed I don’t), I’ll dry off and keep shooting.

You don’t need everything to go perfectly for your wedding to be perfect. Mishaps add character and give you stories to tell for years.

So, if something goes wrong on your wedding day, take a deep breath, let it go, and remember: it’s all part of the adventure.
