One of the most common questions couples ask me is, “Have you worked at our venue before?” It’s a fair question. After all, it feels reassuring to think your photographer already knows the place like the back of their hand.
But here’s the truth: it really doesn’t matter if I’ve shot at your venue before—or not at all. In fact, I’d argue that stepping into a venue for the first time can be a good thing. Let me explain.
Fresh Eyes, Fresh Perspective
When I walk into a venue for the first time, I see it differently than someone who’s been there 20 times. I’m not just going through the motions or relying on the same angles and go-to spots. Instead, I approach the space with fresh eyes, looking for unique details and opportunities to make your photos feel one-of-a-kind.
Every venue has its quirks: the perfect pocket of light streaming through a window, a hidden corner that photographs beautifully, or an architectural feature begging to be part of your story. And finding those is half the fun for me.

No Two Weddings Are Ever the Same
Even if I had shot at your venue before, it wouldn’t mean much because your wedding is completely unique. Every wedding I’ve photographed is different—the people, the style, the weather, the vibe you two bring to the day.
The same venue can feel entirely new depending on how it’s styled or where the light hits. That’s why I don’t rely on any one “formula” for shooting. Your wedding isn’t a repeat of anyone else’s, and your photos will reflect your day, not the venue’s history.
Doing My Homework
Now, don’t get me wrong—I don’t just show up and wing it. If I haven’t been to your venue before, I do my homework. That could mean visiting beforehand, chatting with the venue team, or diving deep into the venue’s website and Instagram for inspiration.
On the day itself, I always arrive early to scout the space and get a feel for how it’s looking. Light, weather, and last-minute changes can make a huge difference, so I like to be ready for anything.

You’re Hiring Me for My Eye
Let’s cut to the real reason you’ve chosen me as your photographer: my style, my creativity, and the way I capture moments. That doesn’t change based on where I’m shooting.
I’ve photographed everything from rustic barns to urban rooftops, and each one presents new opportunities to be creative. Whether it’s my first time at a venue or my fiftieth, my focus is always the same—capturing the connection between you two and the moments that make your day yours.
Trust Goes a Long Way
If you’re nervous about anything, let’s talk it through. But I promise, your venue is in safe hands. Whether it’s my first time there or not, I’ll bring my A-game to ensure your photos are everything you’re hoping for (and more).
So, does it matter if I’ve shot at your venue before? Not in the slightest. What matters is that you trust me to do what I do best: capture your wedding in a way that’s real, personal, and unapologetically you.
